Mike Patton Working On New Film Score, Tomahawk Album

Faith No More/Mr.Bungle/Fantômas/etc man Mike Patton has been selected by writer/director Derek Cianfrance to provide the score for The Place Beyond The Pines.

The film, starring Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendes, is currently in post-production and is described as a crime drama involving a motorcycle stuntman and cop-turned-politician, according to IMDb. Patton has previously provided scores for Crank 2: High Voltage, the short film A Perfect Place, and Italian drama The Solitude Of Prime Numbers, whose soundtrack was recently released via his own Ipecac Recordings.

Patton is also currently working on a new Tomahawk album, the first since 2007’s Anonymous. Patton’s long-time collaborator Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle, Fantômas) has now joined the supergroup on bass, following Kevin Rutmanis who left the band after 2003’s Mit Gas. The album is slated for a late summer release.
